A criminal case against a Sequim man accused of child exploitation has progressed without interruption, with a recent court hearing confirming the trial remains on schedule.

The 23-year-old defendant appeared in Clallam County Superior Court last Friday for a brief procedural review, with Judge Brent Basden overseeing the session. He had been incarcerated after his April arrest but has since been released on bail while awaiting trial.

At Friday’s hearing, the man’s defense attorney, John Hayden, asked the court for a short pause in proceedings to give his client time to finalize arrangements with private counsel. Judge Basden granted this request, ordering that no major case developments proceed until the new attorney formally enters the record. Despite the delay, the existing trial timeline will remain unchanged.

The next court appearance is set for July 2 at 9 a.m. in the courtroom of Judge Elizabeth Stanley, who has been assigned to oversee the matter. That hearing will review the current status of the case and address several pre-trial motions still pending.

Earlier reporting had detailed the initial charges and evidence gathered by law enforcement, including digital content discovered on devices seized during the investigation.
